“After walking into a wine shop in Lancaster the penny dropped”
Those are the words of Dronfield Wine World owner Jane Taylor who runs the newly opened venture based in the heart of Dronfield with her husband Richard.
After a successful career in teaching it was time for a change, and what better way than to introduce a specialist wine shop to the town of Dronfield.
Having spent 16 years living in Chile and growing up experimenting with her own wine making skills it was time to take a 3 month trip back to Chile this time however visiting on a research mission to the place where it all began.
Back in November 2015 Jane & Richard set out travelling around vineyards and getting to know the trade in more depth. A trade which has much more to it then may meet the eye of those such as myself who enjoy a glass on the odd occasion but don’t know much more then the bitter and and full bodied tastes wines can supply us with.
Spending the afternoon with Jane in the shop I learn about how intricate the wine making process really is, with bio dynamic ecosystems setup on vineyards to help make the winemakers projects sustainable in the long term, planting orchards of fruit for the workers to take advantage of whilst encouraging them at the same time to grow their own produce and even investing in the home improvements of their workers the picture created around the wine world begins to widen.
You simply can’t compete with the supermarkets unless the level of service and knowledge far exceeds what the mass suppliers offer on the price front, and here in the heart of Dronfield the Wine World is doing just that!
You can even book yourself onto one of the popular wine tasting events hosted both at the shop & The Forge where you get the chance to taste and compare a variety of wines with expert guidance from both Jane & Richard along with some of their suppliers.
You can find more dates for tasting events on the Dronfield Wine World facebook page.
Better still it’s not just wine that’s on offer at both the tasting events and in the shop there are also some great quality foods to accompany your choice of grape with these locally sourced cheese being a big hit.
If you’re looking to enjoy a glass or two this coming weekend why not head over to the Dronfield Wine World and show support for a fantastic local business.
